Ojai, California

​A quaint and beautiful town. Special to my heart as my dad, mum, sister and I used to take regular day trips here. We’d wake up early in Malibu to get up to Ojai as early as possible- making a pit stop in Oxnard for a breakfast donut, of course. Ojai is about an hour above LA with no traffic and then inland a bit.

Do

• Bike ride- There is a great trail (the Ojai Valley Trail) that runs through Ojai if you are into that sort of thing. It’s 9 miles long, completely paved, and incredibly fun.

Eat

• Agave Maria’s– This is simple Mexican food with outdoor seating and a GREAT margarita. I always wondered why my parents were so much happier on the bike ride BACK after stopping here as our midway point.
• Azu Ojai– Cute spot with good food. Ask to sit outside.

Stay

• Ojai Valley Inn– A good place for you fancier folk. The Bacara of Ojai, in my eyes.
• Ojai Rancho Inn– It’s a fantastic place with separate rooms (like a motel) and a great pool. There is also a separate, detached barn-like home on the property that is available for rent. It’s one of my favorite hotels of all time.
